Nine applications for a grant were received in 2025. Five met the criteria and location expected by the conditions set out by the Trustees.
1. Dart Sailability For the purchase of hydraulic equipment for their support boat and new sails for a dinghy used for those with disabilities.
2. Admiral Swimming Pool To provide pool sessions to those with disabilities.
3. Brixham Library For a breakfast Club for those who are isolated in the community which include the elderly among others.
4. Brixham Baptist Church Part finance to renovate their kitchen to provide community lunches. However, we will hold on to the grant until the project begins and other finance has been raised by the Church.
5. Brixham Does Care We did this on the basis of the feedback received showing the impact from the grant that we had given last year, that Brixham Does Care is a local project and it’s focuses on the elderly. We agreed to give a grant to continue employing an individual to help Brixham’s elderly community with digital form filling. The payment will be made in two equal instalments over the year.
Total grants agreed totalled £41,858, excluding a further instalment of £11,931 paid to Brixham Does Care in connection with the award made in 2024.
We have received feedback from the recipients of the grants given in 2024 as to how these grants have helped their requests. We have visited Dart Sailability to see how they operate and also visited the YES organisation.
Our investments this year did yield enough to be able to fulfil this worthwhile legacy. Let’s hope that we will be able to continue our efforts to help the elderly and disabled both mentally and physically next year.
