The objectives of the Trust shall be to relieve elderly people or persons suffering from mental or physical illness of any description who are in need, by making grants to enable them to buy goods or services to relieve the needs of such persons within the area of Brixham or any other area that the board shall in their absolute discretion think fit.
After seeking financial advice, the board of volunteer Trustees, invested the proceeds from the sale of Laywell House.
These Trustees are responsible for the management of the portfolio of investments and it is their intention to keep the original sum intact. Therefore, allowing for inflation, any surpluses will be used for the benefit of the elderly and disabled.
This money will then be used to provide grants for the people of Brixham and the surrounding areas.
To be eligible for a grant the beneficiary must reside in the area as outlined on the Grant Area Map.
Applications will only be considered from recognised charitable organisations and groups on behalf of the beneficiary.
The Laywell Matthey Trust will only support charitable organisations and groups who recognise that safeguarding is everyone’s business. It Is The Trust’s expectation that all charitable organisations and groups will take responsible steps to safeguard all of their own staff and volunteers as well as those people whom they support.
We will strive to offer as much support to as many individuals through these charitable organisations and groups as we can.
The Trustees will not consider the repayment of debt or projects that are normally required to be funded by Local or Central Government.
The decision of the Committee is absolute and final.
